Tenants Transforming Greater St.Louis formerly Homes For All St.Louis is a Black renter led housing justice & advocacy organization building power in Black and Brown communities around the Greater St. Louis area and altering the socio-political landscape for renter-friendly policies by catalyzing tenant unions.

Tenants Transforming Greater St.Louis is hiring Support Staff to assist on the Home Is Where Our Health Is (HIWOHI) campaign. HIWOHI developed a comprehensive understanding of the code enforcement process for occupied properties to prevent displacement among renters and low-income homeowners and bring buildings into compliance reducing negative health outcomes. From this research, administrative and policy recommendations were put forth and those recommendations have to be seen through by Tenants Transforming Greater St.Louis and the 60 member coalition.

Responsibilities

The Policy Support Organizer will be responsible for:

This position will support the HIWOHI Lead and the HFASTL organizing team and will or could consist of the following tasks & responsibilities:

  • Maintaining communications with coalition member
  • Maintaining communications with elected officials 
  • Tabling and presenting at public events
  • Attending and testifying at hearings
  • Community Outreach + Engagement
  • Mapping Renters/Homeowners
  • Phone Banking
  • Canvassing

Qualifications

  • Their own car/transportation (PREFERRED, but, not required)
  • Works well both w/a team and independently
  • Can work both weekdays and weekends 
  • Computer proficiency
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledgeable of St.Louis political landscape 
  • Prior organizing experience STRONGLY preferred
  • Canvassing and phone banking experience STRONGLY preferred


Compensation

Part-time position with a flexible work schedule. 

Commitment of at least 25 hours a month with a flat pay rate of $25-$50/hr. 

Pay rate is based off level of experience.

Position has the opprotunity to evolve into a full-time, salaried role by December 2024|Januray 2025
